The Macbeth Centre’s roof renovation has been completed just in time for the building’s 150th anniversary.
Completed in October 2024, the new roof will allow our century-and-a-half-year-old centre to continue as an educational hub for Hammersmith & Fulham residents for many years to come.
Heritage England recognises our building as architecturally significant. To maintain the centre’s original character, the new roof combines Spanish terracotta and Welsh slate. See the before and after photos here
Our Special Educational Needs (SEN) learners were invited to paint the underside of the new roof tiles before installation. This creative involvement transformed the renovation from a simple construction project into a community celebration.
Despite challenges during the work like storm damage and unexpected flooding, our team ensured all classes continued without interruption. We’re grateful for the patience of our students and staff during the seven-month renovation by the Breyer Group. Watch their video of the project.
With 30 years of delivering adult education, the Macbeth Centre’s new roof is more than just a building upgrade – it’s a renewed promise to provide quality education to our community. Our building is located just off King Street, around the corner from the Civic Campus.
