The Simple 24 Yang Style Tai Chi Quan Form is designed to introduce participants to the core principles and movements of the traditional Yang style Tai Chi Quan in a condensed and accessible manner. The course will cover 24 simplified and graceful movements that embody the essential elements of balance, harmony, and the circulation of vital energy ("Qi"). They will perform the sequence with improved body alignment, fine motor control, and relaxation, fostering stress reduction, flexibility, and inner calm for enhanced physical and mental well-being. The course provides a solid foundation in Tai Chi, empowering individuals to continue their practice and reap its numerous benefits in their daily lives.
The course will be organised to teach the beginning sequence of the Simple 24 Yang Style Tai Chi Quan Form. Participants will start with the initial movements and progress gradually, learning each step in a clear and concise manner. The instruction will include demonstrations and verbal explanations to ensure a solid understanding of the beginning sequence and its underlying principles. As the course advances, participants will practise the beginning sequence regularly, allowing them to develop improved body alignment, fine motor control, and relaxation. No extra practice is required but 10-15 minutes of Tai Chi per day is a good habit to get into.
Each learner will complete a health questionnaire and an initial assessment from which individual targets/challenges will be set. No formal assessment but your progress will be tracked against the course learning outcomes and your personal targets. Self assessment may also be required. Normal Agewell costs apply. Please wear loose comfortable clothing and flat, flexible soled shoes that do not restrict ankle movement. Books may be recommended but there is no required reading. You may also be informed about Tai Chi events but will be under no obligation to attend. Please also bring water with you.
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages.
