Discover the power of Qigong! In this class, you will learn a moving meditation that uses simple, graceful, and flowing movements to help diffuse stress, release tension, and bring tranquillity to your mind. Qigong, meaning 'energy exercise', has been practised in China for over 4000 years and involves moving the energy (Qi) through the body's channels, promoting flow, strength, and balance. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to begin learning the Shi-Ba-Shi (18 exercises) exercises, further enhancing your qigong practice.
This Qigong class is designed for anyone seeking stress relief, inner calm, and improved well-being. Whether you feel stressed, anxious, or simply want to find your chill, Qigong can benefit individuals of all ages and backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary, making it accessible to beginners and those new to Qigong

By the end of the course, you will have learned the gentle warm-up, flowing movements of qigong, and the beginning of the Shi-Ba-Shi (18 exercises) exercises. Through regular practice, you will experience increased energy, improved focus, enhanced strength, balance, stamina, and flexibility. The calming effects of Qigong will leave you feeling positive and relaxed, equipped with valuable techniques to manage stress and promote overall well-being.
The course will begin with a gentle warm-up to prepare your body and mind for the practice of qigong. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the teachings and flow of the movements, including the start of the Shi-Ba-Shi (18 exercises) exercises, ensuring clear and easy-to-follow instructions. You'll have the opportunity to practise Qigong and the Shi-Ba-Shi exercises in a fun and stress-free environment, wearing loose and comfortable clothing. Whether you're new to Qigong or seeking to deepen your practice, join us for an hour of rejuvenation and discovery of the power of Qigong.
Students will be encouraged to devise their own home practice plan.
There is no formal assessment procedure but students are expected to record their progression/achievements on the record of achievement form. The tutor will also discuss individual concerns and note them in the same form.
Qigong should be developed as an integral part of life, and our Qigong Improvers class offers a seamless continuation of your practice. Building upon the foundation established in the beginners' class, the Improvers class will follow the seasonal flow of nature. In this class, you will explore more advanced Qigong techniques and exercises that align with the natural rhythms of the seasons. The curriculum will focus on deepening your connection to the energy of nature and further refining your Qigong practice to enhance overall well-being. Join us in the Improvers class to continue your journey with Qigong and embrace its profound benefits in harmony with the changing seasons and the flow of life.
For the class, normal Agewell costs will apply. Please ensure you come prepared with loose, comfortable clothing suitable for movement. It is recommended to wear socks that can be easily removed during the exercises. Bringing a water bottle is essential to stay hydrated throughout the session. No special equipment needed: Rest assured, there is no requirement for any special equipment such as mats or weights. These qigong exercises can be performed either seated or standing, accommodating various preferences and abilities. The practice does not involve complex poses, sitting, or chanting, making it accessible and enjoyable for all participants. Whether you're a beginner or seasoned practitioner, all ages are warmly welcomed to join the class. Embrace the convenience of qigong, where only loose and comfortable clothing is needed to fully immerse yourself in this enriching experience.
