This course will cover a complete routine which is divided into progressive learning of basic steps and sequences during each session so you will be able to enjoy taking part and performing this exciting dance.
This Beginners Salsa course is for people who like music and dance and who are willing to learn & practise basic steps, learn new combinations and combining into a routine.
You don't need experience to follow the rhythm of the music which you will soon be familiar with. This dynamic way of dancing is suitable for all levels and speeds of learning.
Dance to the rhythm of Salsa. Develop confidence in dance and socially. Recognise good co-ordination. Develop improvisational skills. Complete basic choreography tasks. Recognise the differences between Salsa and Merengue and their origins. Develop short and long routines.
The class begins with a warm-up which involves stretching and relaxing exercises; then Salsa group-work, sequences in pairs, and individual tutorials. Repetition of the basic steps combing them into a routine.
If possible, practice and repeat the 4 basic steps when you can, so students can increase speed without any difficulty.

New steps, new speeds, better co-ordination of movement in a friendly atmosphere which prepares the students to progress to either improvers, intermediate or advanced level.
Bottled water comfortable clothes and shoes will be advised by the tutor.
Help with literacy or numeracy is available through the basic education programme and the ESOL programme offers help for speakers of other languages. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Details are available in the Guide or from teaching or Reception staff.
