Session 10 03/07/25 Louis XIV. Session 11 10/07/25 Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach.
Anyone interested in learning about some famous European figures from the 17th century.
None but your English should be good enough to be able to follow the lectures, participate in class discussions and activities and do some background reading and research.
demonstrate knowledge of the lives and achievements of these famous figures - recognise how these famous figures influenced Britain and the modern world - be aware of the different types of historical evidence and how they are used
11 two-hour long sessions with each one focusing on a famous European figure from the 17th century. Towards the end of the course the tutor and the students will discuss the possibility of a walking tour or museum visit.
Some reading is required in order to complete independent research.
